We are seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer focused on Large Scale Embedding to join Reddit’s Machine Learning team. This is a full-time, remote role (Remote - United States) with a target hire date in late 2025. The Principal ML Engineer will lead the design and deployment of high-performance embedding models for large-scale data, build production-grade ML pipelines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship impactful features. This is an IC7 level individual contributor position requiring the ability to operate across research and production boundaries.

Role Overview

Lead the development of embedding models and ML systems that scale to large datasets. Drive the end-to-end lifecycle from research to production, ensuring robustness, reliability, and measurable product impact. Mentor teammates and collaborate with cross-functional partners to align ML initiatives with business needs.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize large-scale embedding models
• Build and maintain production-grade ML pipelines for training and serving
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to deliver high-impact features
• Mentor junior engineers and uphold high coding and system-design standards

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in machine learning, embedding techniques, and related algorithms
• Strong software engineering background with Python; experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Experience with distributed systems and large-scale data processing
• Proven track record of shipping production ML systems
