Principal Security Engineer, Data Security

📋 Description

• Lead design and execution of Upstart’s data security program.
• Architect/build APIs, services, and tools for data protection.
• Partner with Eng, Analytics, Product, Legal, Risk, HR to secure data.
• Establish goals, metrics, and accountability for data security initiatives.
• Drive adoption of least-privilege access and modern data protection patterns.
• Mentor engineers and security practitioners to raise standards.
• Improve systems using real-world signals, feedback, and threats.

🎯 Requirements

• Extensive experience across enterprise security with focus on Data Security and IAM
• Experience owning/leading Data Security, DLP, or DSPM initiatives
• Proven ability to lead security programs spanning multiple teams and functions
• Strong software engineering background; design/build production-grade APIs and services
• Experience launching security capabilities from 0 to 1 in complex environments
• Deep understanding of least-privilege principles at scale
