Principal Materials Engineer

📋 Description

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Materials Discovery Lab.
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate rapid materials prototyping and testing.
• Collaborate with the PI on project planning, experimental design, data analysis.
• Oversee equipment acquisition, setup, and maintenance.
• Mentor team members to efficiently execute various projects.
• Advance materials for reusable space missions and Terran R goals.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor or master’s degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on aerospace high-temperature materials development and testing.
• Hands-on experience with thermal, chemical, and mechanical testing.
• Experience with materials characterization techniques: DSC, TGA, SEM, XRD.
• Strong project management and mentoring of junior team members.
• Strong collaboration and problem-solving; cross-functional teamwork.
• Ability to lead lab operations and equipment maintenance.
