Principal Engineer, Hardware

📋 Description

• Setting architectural direction for retrofit kits and platform generations.
• Owning integration points between mechanical, electrical, and EM subsystems (sensors, compute, wiring).
• Driving design-for-manufacturing rigor for volume production.
• Partnering with software teams on drive-by-wire stack (steering, braking, throttle).
• Defining redundancy architecture for drive-by-wire subsystems.
• Leading work toward certified drive-by-wire meeting ISO 26262/ISO 13849; vendor qualification.

🎯 Requirements

• 15+ years of hands-on hardware engineering on real, shipped products
• Dual-depth in mechanical and electrical engineering; lead cross-discipline reviews
• Experience taking architecture through DFM, supplier qualification, pilot to volume
• Direct experience with electromechanical actuation systems (steering, braking, drive); controls/firmware/PCB
• Strong hands-on: PCB design, harness design, mechanical CAD, bench bring-up, oscilloscope
• Experience with functional-safety standards (ISO 26262/ISO 13849; aerospace equivalents)
