As we expand our hybrid and electric propulsion programs, we are seeking a System Integration Prototype Technician who thrives at the intersection of mechanics, electrics, and propulsion systems. This role is ideal for someone who loves building from the ground up—turning early concepts into working aircraft.
Responsibilities Fabricate prototype components using3D printing, machining, and rapid prototypingtechniques.Manufacture and repair lightweight structures usingwet layup composites(fiberglass, carbon fiber, Kevlar, etc.).Build and maintainjigs, molds, and fixturesfor prototype assembly and rework.Assemble and integratemechanical, electrical, structural, and propulsion systemsincludingelectric motors, internal combustion (gasoline) engines, and hybrid powertrains.Conductsystem-level integration and troubleshooting—diagnosing electrical, fuel, or mechanical issues during vehicle bring-up and testing.Supportengine installation, cooling, exhaust, and fuel system plumbing.Collaborate closely with engineers across Aeromechanical, Electrical, and Systems disciplines to ensure designs are manufacturable and test-ready.Provide feedback to design engineers and contribute to design-for-assembly and design-for-maintenance improvements.Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient prototype workshop environment. Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree inMechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.Strong proficiency withhand tools, fabrication equipment, adhesives, cutting, bonding, and assembly processes.Proficiencywith3D printing (FDM, SLA, or similar)and finishing techniques.Practical experience incomposite layup, trimming, and structural bonding.Hands-on experience withinternal combustion engines, including assembly, integration, and testing.Familiarity withelectric propulsion systems(motors, ESCs, wiring, sensors, or BMS integration).Comfortable working in afast-paced prototyping and test environment, supporting rapid iteration cycles. Preferred Qualifications Experience inaerospace, automotive, UAV, or eVTOL prototype builds.Working knowledge ofadhesives, bonded structures, lightweight materials, andengine-to-electric hybrid integration.Familiarity withCAD tools(CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent).Experience withinstrumentation, sensors, and data acquisitionduring system testing.Understanding ofAS9100 or ISO9001quality practices for prototype fabrication.
