Fiber Technician I

Overview

Pilot is seeking a Fiber Technician I to join our field operations team in New York, NY. This entry-level role supports installation, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic networks for residential and commercial customers. You will work under supervision to install cabling, splice enclosures, perform continuity tests, and troubleshoot issues. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, physically capable, and eager to learn telecommunications fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation and routing of fiber optic cables in both new construction and existing systems
• Pull cable, terminate connectors, and perform basic splicing under supervision
• Conduct continuity and loss tests using standard test equipment
• Document work performed and ensure compliance with safety and industry standards
• Support project teams with site surveys and quality control

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
• Basic understanding of fiber optic fundamentals and safety practices
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments
• Valid driver\'s license and reliable transportation
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
