A brand new capability went live this year with the Phrase Studio application. The Studio enables our customers to launch multilingual video and audio content quickly, reduce manual effort, and improve collaboration across departments. Spoken content is everywhere. But until now, it’s been hard to process at scale.

The Phrase Studio technology changes that. Built into the Phrase Localization Platform, it combines multilingual captioning, speaker detection, cutting-edge speech-to-text translation, and AI dubbing solutions.

The team works autonomous, cross-functional, and mostly remote; with a strong engineering culture, high product ownership, and an excitement for leveraging new technology to provide value to our customers.

As a Full Stack Engineer at the Studio team, you will contribute to building and scaling our AI-powered audio/video processing platform. Your work will span the entire technology stack - from React frontends to NestJS backends, from ML micro-services to cloud infrastructure. In this role you’ll not only develop stories, but take ideas through technical design, implementation, until deployment.

You'll collaborate with Product Managers, AI Researchers, and fellow Software and Quality Engineers to deliver sophisticated solutions that make professional audio/video processing accessible to creators everywhere. Our Engineering Manager will support your development while ensuring you can focus on building exceptional software.

Full-Stack Development: Build robust, scalable applications using React/TypeScript frontends and NestJS/Fastify backends, ensuring seamless user experiences for complex audio/video workflows.

Cloud-Native Architecture: Develop and maintain cloud-first solutions leveraging AWS and GCP services, including serverless functions, container orchestration, and distributed processing pipelines.

AI/ML Integration: Work with fellow AI/ML engineering team to integrate speech-to-text, translation, and AI dubbing services into production workflows, ensuring reliable performance at scale.

Real-time Systems: Develop real-time collaboration features, progress tracking, and live transcription capabilities using WebSockets, Pub/Sub messaging, and efficient state management.

Performance Engineering: Optimize complex media processing workflows, manage large file uploads/downloads, and ensure responsive user interfaces for interactive features.

Database Design: Work with PostgreSQL for transactional data and Redis for caching/session management, designing schemas that support millions of audio segments and complex project hierarchies.

Code Quality & Monitoring: Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews while also setting up the environment with monitoring dashboards and alertings to ensure high standards and security across the codebase.

• Full-Stack Expertise: 3+ years building production web applications with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and backend API development.
• React Proficiency: Including state management libraries and modern development tooling.
• Backend Development: Node.js frameworks, RESTful API design, and database integration.
• Cloud Platforms: Cloud services (bonus points for AWS or GCP), containerization (Docker), and basic infrastructure concepts.
• Database Skills: Both SQL and NoSQL databases, query optimization, and data modeling.
• System Design: Understanding of microservices architecture, message queues, caching strategies, and scalable system design principles.
• Problem Solver: Capable of balancing technical challenges with business needs.
