Staff Software Engineer, Backend

PathAI is on a mission to improve patient outcomes with AI-powered pathology. We are transforming traditional pathology methods into powerful, new technologies. • Solve complex backend challenges using high-quality code
• Design, build, maintain, and evolve scalable backend services and APIs (e.g., FastAPI, Django REST)
• Define and own the architecture of large components and platforms
• Collaborate closely with ML, product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to deliver end-to-end systems
• Maintain excellence in testing, CI/CD, and code reviews
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, promoting best practices
• Contribute to software regulated as medical devices, ensuring quality and compliance

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent experience
• 5+ years in backend development (full lifecycle delivery)
• Strong experience with FastAPI and/or Django REST framework
• Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Experience with cloud-native systems (AWS preferred), containerization, and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Proficiency with CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitLab CI, Docker pipelines)
