Location: Cologne (WeWork) or Remote from Germany (CET‑time) · Team: Payroll Plus · Type: Full‑time
80% of employees worldwide don’t work at a desk. Ordio 💙 is the all‑in‑one SaaS platform that helps organisations manage and empower this workforce: shift planning, time tracking, absence & document management, powered by modern AI.
Payroll Plus is Ordio's comprehensive payroll service that takes the complexity out of German payroll compliance. We handle everything from wage calculation to payslip distribution, allowing companies to focus on their business while we ensure accurate, timely, and legally compliant payroll processing. Because Payroll Plus is tightly integrated with Ordio's shift planning and time tracking, payroll data flows automatically from your operational systems—no manual data entry required.
We’re an ambitious HR tech startup, scaling fast in Germany. We believe AI can make work better for millions of people by simplifying admin, enabling smarter decisions, and giving employees the tools they deserve.
We’re looking for a Design‑focused Frontend Web Developer who lives at the intersection of tasteful UI, crisp interaction design, and production‑grade React. You’ll own the front‑end craft across key surfaces—from our web app to marketing experiences—building accessible, high‑performance interfaces in Next.js with Tailwind CSS, and elevating them with purposeful motion using Framer Motion. You’ll partner closely with Product Design and PMs to translate Figma concepts into polished, animated interfaces that feel effortless.
In this role, you'll develop internal applications that empower our payroll admins to work more efficiently, while also extending the Ordio platform with new features for our clients' workspace admins and employees.
Build beautiful, accessible UIs with Next.js (App Router, SSR/SSG/ISR), React, and Tailwind CSS—using component‑driven development and clean, semantic HTML.
Write and maintain Cypress E2E tests to validate critical user flows, catch regressions early, and ensure production confidence across features.
Design and implement motion with Framer Motion: micro‑interactions, transitions, choreographed page/route animations, empty states, and loading experiences that communicate state and reduce cognitive load.
Partner with Design to refine interaction details, translate tokenized design systems, and keep fidelity from Figma to production (including responsive and dark mode strategies).
Evolve our component library (Storybook or equivalent), define motion primitives and usage guidelines, and document accessibility considerations.
Ship for performance: instrument, profile, and tune Core Web Vitals; optimise images/fonts; manage code‑splitting and caching strategies.
Champion accessibility (a11y): keyboard navigation, focus management, ARIA, color contrast, and motion‑sensitive preferences (reduced motion).
Collaborate across the stack with backend engineers on API shapes and data contracts; contribute to CI quality gates (linting, type checks, tests).
Raise the bar on craft: code reviews, pairing, and design critiques to maintain a consistent, elevated UX.
3+ years building production web interfaces with React/Next.js and Tailwind CSS, plus a portfolio of shipped work showing animation and interaction design.
Proven skill with Framer Motion: orchestrating route transitions, layout animations, shared element transitions, and state‑driven motion.
A strong design sensibility—type, spacing, hierarchy, and clarity—and the ability to discuss trade‑offs between aesthetics, usability, and performance.
Solid grasp of web fundamentals (semantics, CSS architecture, accessibility) and TypeScript.
Experience turning Figma files into resilient components; familiarity with design tokens and system constraints.
Comfort with performance profiling, Core Web Vitals, and production debugging.
Clear communication and pragmatic collaboration in a cross‑functional team
Storybook (or similar) for component documentation; visual regression testing.
Experience in B2B SaaS or tools for finance/operations/HR; i18n and RTL layouts.
Familiarity with experimentation frameworks and product analytics.
Exposure to scaling design systems across multiple surfaces.
Product trios (Product Manager + Frontend Engineer + Backend Engineer) run discovery and delivery together.
Small, empowered squads with clear goals and a pragmatic definition of done.
Code reviews that mentor, not gatekeep. We value feedback, clarity, and kindness.
We bias to outcomes over output and celebrate well‑scoped iterations.
💰 Competitive compensation and benefits (e.g. equity, flexible time off, generous parental leave)
