OpenZeppelin is seeking an Open Source Development Manager to lead and grow our open source contribution ecosystem. This remote role partners with engineering, security, and product teams to set the roadmap for OpenZeppelin’s open source projects, oversee contributor programs, governance, and release processes, and ensure high-quality, secure code across community-driven repositories.

Role Overview

As the Open Source Development Manager, you will lead the strategy and operations of OpenZeppelin's open source projects, coordinate with engineers and security teams, and steward a thriving community of contributors around blockchain and security-focused software.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the strategy for OpenZeppelin's open source projects, governance, contributor onboarding, and quality standards.
Build, mentor, and manage a team of maintainers and community leads; nurture a diverse, inclusive contributor community.
Oversee contribution workflows, code review processes, CI/CD integration, security practices, and vulnerability response coordination.
Collaborate with engineering, security, product, and communications teams to align roadmaps and communicate with external developers and the wider community.
Plan and oversee release cycles, documentation, and onboarding to encourage broad adoption.

Requirements

Experience in open source program management, developer relations, or leadership of open source communities; blockchain or security-focused projects are a plus.
Strong knowledge of GitHub workflows, PR reviews, CI systems, and contribution tooling.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills in a globally distributed environment.
Familiarity with Solidity/Ethereum and smart contract security is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; technical background in software development is a plus.
