Odin helps people to raise and deploy capital seamlessly

We envision a world where people can vote with their money on what the future looks like, and participate in creating it.

Our first product makes it radically easier for anyone, anywhere, to launch & run a private markets investment firm - think "Shopify for VC / PE".

We handle all the “plumbing” and paperwork through one seamless platform - everything from setting up the legal structure for an investment vehicle through to processing exits.

We’re already trusted by over 10,000 VCs, angels and founders, and we're one of the fastest-growing fintechs in the UK, tripling income YoY. We've raised $5m in seed funding from top angels, family offices and VCs to support our own growth, and we are just getting started.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to Paddy, our Co-CEO, you'll lead and grow a team of ~7 engineers, fostering a high-performing, low-ego culture grounded in accountability, ownership, and technical excellence

  • Build psychological safety and trust so everyone feels comfortable raising issues, asking questions, and giving feedback

  • Deliver regular, actionable feedback and run fair, evidence-based reviews that set clear expectations for growth and delivery

  • Work closely with Product to deliver high-quality releases that customers love, balancing speed, quality, and maintainability

  • Own and continuously improve processes across QA, support, and incident response, ensuring reliability and operational excellence

  • Hire exceptional engineers, define the bar, and coach others to interview and assess effectively

  • Guide architectural decisions, coding standards, and security practices; stay technically credible and hands-on when needed

  • Align engineering priorities with company goals, communicating progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly across teams

  • Promote responsible, effective use of AI tools to improve productivity, quality, and developer experience

  • Use data and reflection to drive continuous improvement in speed, reliability, and team experience

  • Balance technical investment with commercial impact, ensuring engineering decisions drive customer and business value

Qualities

Must-Have:

  • You’ve thought deeply about what makes an outstanding team thrive. You know how to spot potential, recruit talent that complements existing team members, and onboard and retain new team members

  • You don’t shy away from tough conversations. You push your team and make unpopular decisions when needed. While you value input from your team and stakeholders, you understand that consensus isn't always possible or practical. You can weigh various factors, consider different perspectives, and make decisions that ultimately benefit the customer, the company, and the team

  • Not driven by ego. You are willing to admit when you’re wrong and recognise the value in acknowledging what you don’t know

  • You’re ambitious and committed to excellence. You know that building something great requires hard work and time, but to you, it’s all worth it

  • You take ownership. With full autonomy, you assume complete responsibility for the Engineering team's performance and impact. You also work directly with the Product team to execute ambitious goals without needing input from the founders

  • You lead by example and are used to being held accountable for your team. You take ownership of driving the direction and ensure that everyone brings excellence to their craft with a laser focus on execution

  • You have integrity. Even when it’s easy to cut corners or meet only minimal legal requirements without detection, you consistently choose to go above and beyond. Your values and mindset drive you to always do the right thing, ensuring the highest standards for both customers and the team

Your Experience

Must-Have:

  • Successful Track Record in Engineering Management: You’ve demonstrated the ability to build and shape organisational culture through intentional, mindful actions. You’re experienced in navigating multiple cycles of change, reflecting on management decisions, learning from outcomes, and implementing improvements to achieve positive results

  • You’re a Relationship Builder: You understand that your relationship with the founders and senior management should be built on trust. In a small team, avoiding politics is crucial. While relationships require effort, there should be a natural, mutual understanding as the baseline

  • Exceptional Hiring Skills: You have a demonstrated ability to build exceptional teams. You set a high bar for hiring processes and performance

  • Experience Managing and Building a Strong Feedback Culture: You know what it takes to build an environment where feedback thrives. It’s second nature for you to give regular feedback that allows the team to improve beyond what they thought they were capable of

  • You Have Built a Culture of Speed and Urgency in a Startup: You know how to achieve it without compromising on quality and put the right processes in place

  • You Communicate Intentionally and Proactively: You understand the role communication plays in building trust and reducing the chances of misunderstandings and incorrect assumptions. You know how to communicate the right things to the right people through the right channels. You understand the role Engineering plays in building company-wide momentum

You won’t be a good fit if:

  • You exclusively hire individuals with experience in the exact tech stack we use. We value adaptability and appreciate candidates who can quickly learn new languages or technologies

  • You've only managed a team of engineers who are predominantly early-career or mid-career or who don't thrive with ownership or autonomy

The Hiring Process

  1. Interview with Imani, our Head of People & Talent - In this session, you’ll unpack the role and learn more about us, and she will ensure you're the right fit for the position (45 mins)

  2. Interview with Paddy & Mary, our Founders - During this initial interview, you’ll touch on topics such as culture, hiring, and processes to see if there’s alignment on both sides (1 hr)

  3. In-depth interviews with our team - This stage is broken into two interviews. The first will focus on system design to understand more about how you’ll be able to coach and problem-solve. The second will delve deeper into your approach to hiring, performance, and management (2 hrs)

  4. Final interview with Mary & Paddy - At this stage, we're genuinely excited and believe it’s fitting for you to spend some time with the founders. This will be in person. If you’re based in Europe, we’ll fly you into London for the day
