Clinical Research Rater – Cognitive and Neurologic Assessments (PT/FT/On-Site)

Location: Austin / Round Rock, Texas

Job Type: PT/FT

Work Setting: On-Site only

Overview

Since its founding in 2004, Central Texas Neurology Consultants (CTNC) has provided advanced neurological care across brain, spine, nerve, and muscle disorders. Our clinic supports patients, caregivers, and the broader community through high-quality treatment, education, and clinical research that advances the understanding and management of neurological disease.

Our Round Rock location offers the best of both worlds—suburban stability with quick access to Austin’s cultural and academic community. You’ll work within a collaborative team that includes board-certified neurologists, researchers, social workers, and clinical staff dedicated to improving patient outcomes.

Position Overview

Why This Role Matters

Clinical research at CTNC puts you at the center of where neurology is moving next. As a Clinical Research Rater, you will conduct standardized cognitive and neurologic assessments that directly influence clinical trial outcomes. Your work supports the evaluation of new therapies for Alzheimer’s disease, neurodegenerative disorders, MS, and memory conditions.

This role blends patient interaction with structured assessment, data quality oversight, and collaboration with investigators, coordinators, and sponsors. Many clinicians and researchers who move into rater work find opportunities for professional growth through publications, protocol development, and exposure to emerging therapies.

If you have strong assessment skills, experience in cognitive or psychological testing, and enjoy detail-oriented, protocol-driven work, this role offers a meaningful way to contribute to cutting-edge neurology research.

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • PhD in Psychology (clinical, counseling, neuropsychology, experimental psychology, cognitive psychology, or related field)

  • LCSW or Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, behavioral health, or closely related discipline

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field plus 2+ years administering CDR or comparable neurocognitive assessments

Skills:

  • Direct experience administering the Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) scale to adults

  • Comfort with structured protocols, GCP, and documentation requirements

  • Strong interpersonal communication and attention to detail

  • Prior work as a clinical rater, psychometrist, psychometrician, neuropsych technician, or research professional administering cognitive assessments preferred but not required. We provide full training for motivated candidates.
