As an Engineer I -System validation Test Automation, you will work closely with senior engineers to validate NETGEAR’s Insight along with Wireless Access points, Pro Routers, Switches and Security Devices. You will be responsible for testing both functional and performance aspects of networking and wireless features. You will contribute to our automation efforts using Python and Robot Framework and help integrate these tests into continuous delivery pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute test cases for either of Switches, Pro Routers, Access Points, and Security Devices running advanced wireless and network features.

  • Validate wireless networking features including 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, roaming, band steering, DFS, and mesh technologies.

  • Test and debug issues related to wireless security protocols (WPA2, WPA3), firewall behavior, VPN, and access control.

  • Validate wired/wireless interoperability across Layer 2/3 switches, routers, and end-user devices.

  • Develop and maintain automation test scripts using Python and Robot Framework.

  • Work with senior QA and development engineers to debug and reproduce issues.

  • Track defects using Jira, maintain test documentation in Confluence, and manage scripts in Git/GitHub.

  • Execute tests in simulated/Real environments with real Switches, access points, clients, and security gateways.

  • Participate in Agile activities and collaborate across cross-functional teams (embedded, cloud, cross functional QA ).

Technical Skills:

  • Wireless Networking:

    Understanding of 802.11 standards (a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be) ,Familiarity with Wi-Fi security protocols (WEP, WPA2, WPA3)

    Concepts like SSID, channel bonding, MIMO, OFDMA, beamforming, Roaming, Mesh Wi-Fi, and AP/client interaction

    Hands-on with wireless technology and enterprise APs and Switches preferred

  • Networking:

    Knowledge on TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, NAT, DNS, Routing, Switching (L2/L3)

    validating Pro Routers, Access Points, and firewall/VPN configurations is plus

  • Automation & Programming:

    Proficient in Python scripting

    Familiarity with Robot Framework

    Exposure to Java, SQL, or Selenium is a plus

  • Tools & Platforms:

    Jenkins, Jira, Git, GitHub, Confluence

    MySQL, HTML, CSS

    Test/development on Linux, Windows, and embedded environments

  • Computer Science Fundamentals:

    Data Structures, Algorithms, OOP

    Debugging and log analysis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.

  • 2-4 years of experience in QA/testing or networking (internships, academic projects, or full-time roles).

  • Strong interest or certification in Networking/Wi-Fi (e.g., CCNA, CWNA) is a plus.

  • Strong desire to grow in the field of networking technologies and QA automation.
