As a Fullstack Engineer, you will be an integral part of our Business Accounts area, currently focused on developing one of our future flagship products - a business account & cards that allows our customers to use Mollie as an alternative to their current bank (sneakpic into product!).
You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of product managers, product designers, and product engineers (backend, UI, mobile, full-stack). We’ve just launched this product last month, and learning from the feedback of its first users. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in a product launch from its inception, contribute to achieving product-market fit, and gain valuable experience in scaling up a new product.
While we keep the specifics confidential for now, we are eager to share more details with you about what’s cooking under the hood!
What you'll be doing
Taking ownership of the end to end development of a new product with a dedicated team of 3-4 engineers
Iterating from idea to final solution: shaping, building, testing, and measuring the performance of features our customers will love
Challenging our ideas and bringing your own. We encourage each other to act this way, so you can expect the same from others
Looking for ways to improve the state of our tech. We run a single codebase for our web app (React) and mobile app (React Native), and Java (Spring Boot) on the backend
Raising the bar of overall quality of our UI platform by working with a wider community of product designers & UI engineers within Mollie. We encourage you to contribute to our company-wide design system and other services and libraries
Our architecture
Mollie’s frontend landscape consists of multiple apps, each optimized for its specific purpose, such as our merchant dashboard, API documentation, and mobile apps. Our UI apps are generally written in TypeScript using React. Our backend system is primarily written in Java (Spring Boot), and hosted on Google Cloud. Many adjacent services are built in PHP and also run on Google Cloud. We prioritize performance, stability, and resilience, continuously enhancing our applications to handle the next phase of growth.
What you'll bring
A minimum of 4 years experience in developing large-scale web applications.
Strong knowledge of Java (Spring Boot) and TypeScript (React).
Knowledge and/or experience with domain-driven or service-oriented architectures.
Track record or strong desire to build cross-stack (80% backend + 20% frontend/mobile).
We know how hard it is at times to self-evaluate. Like in this case: you might read ‘experience developing large-scale apps’, and might be in doubt after that - ‘did I really build apps that are large-scale enough?’
Many of us at Mollie recall those moments of doubt when applying to vacancies too. With this we would like to encourage you: if that’s how you just felt - please click apply. It speaks a lot about your personal strengths.
We at Mollie promise a non-judgemental and casual environment during interviews, and we consistently hear from candidates that this is how they perceived this process.
Nice to have
Previously worked with PHP, TypeScript, React(.Native), Google Cloud Platform.
Previously worked within the Payments, FinTech or high scale B2B SaaS space.
Track record of leading complex cross-functional or cross-team initiatives to their success.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams (backend and UI engineers, product designers and other roles). You come with a formed view on what works well and what doesn’t.
