MERIT is looking for a proactive and detail-driven Staff Accountant to join our dynamic Finance and Accounting team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of key accounting functions—from Accounts Receivable and reconciliations to journal entries and month-end close. You’ll work cross-functionally to ensure accurate financial reporting, streamline processes, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Own Accounts Receivable and order to cash reconciliation, including AR aging reports with accurate status updates; communicate with appropriate stakeholders within the organization
- Assist with overseeing the Accounts Payable inbox and processing vendor invoices
- Prepare and record journal entries to ensure accurate financial data
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to support financial reporting processes
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to organize, analyze, and present financial data effectively
- Assist in the month-end close processes for assigned areas, including daily interaction with internal and external stakeholders
- Regularly maintain treasury reconciliations, including cash, cash equivalents, and clearing accounts
- Responsible for other detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
- Assist in managing the corporate card program, including monthly spend analysis
- Report, manage, and analyze employee expense reimbursements
- Monitor, communicate, and resolve accounting issues promptly to maintain operating efficiency
- Work closely with other departments to help identify and implement financial process improvements
- Collaborate with team members to support audits and other financial reviews
- Provide support in audit-related tasks, compliance activities, and other special projects and financial initiatives as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting or a related field
- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledgers
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analysis tools
- NetSuite/Tipalti/Navan software experience preferred, but not required
- Strong organizational skills, along with being flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- High attention to detail
MERIT is proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package in addition to compensation. The annual salary for this role is $73,000 - $83,000 in addition to bonus potential, stock options, a 401(k) match, health benefits, paid time off and more.
