Mechanical Design Engineer, Power Electronics

📋 Description

• Lead mechanical design of high-power electrical assemblies from concept to production.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, electrical, safety, and manufacturing teams to optimize performance.
• Solve propulsion design challenges: thermal management, HV isolation/interconnects, shock and EMI.
• Design components: plastic housings, sheet metal brackets, insulation, HV connectors.
• Analyze designs using heat transfer, thermal analysis, structural calculations, and FEA.
• Lead prototype builds and design validation testing.

🎯 Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
• 4+ years of relevant Mechanical Design experience.
• Demonstrated ability designing a high voltage electronic assembly from blank sheet to production.
• Strong 3D design skills, preferably NX; solid understanding of electrical design fundamentals.
• Proficiency in thermal and structural analysis using FEA tools (STAR-CCM, ANSYS, ICEPACK, COMSOL); MATLAB or Python basics.
• Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, soldering, welding, PCB fabrication); GD&T and DFM.
