Materials Engineer

📋 Description

• Build, refine, and validate explicit dynamics FEA models (LS-DYNA, Abaqus/Explicit).
• Own in-house mechanical testing pipeline: fixtures, tests (servo-hydraulic, drop tower, DIC), and CORA comparisons.
• Translate test data into constitutive model inputs and deliver validated simulations.
• Coordinate SHPB, DMA, and abuse tests; ensure data quality.
• Extend impact models to related reliability domains (burst pressure, vibration fatigue, seals).
• Support reliability programs including thermal modeling, RH/leak modeling, and accelerated lifetime testing as needed.

🎯 Requirements

• MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 2+ years of explicit dynamics FEA experience (LS-DYNA or Abaqus/Explicit).
• 2+ years mechanical testing experience (tensile, DMA, servo-hydraulic).
• Polymer/composite material characterization (rate- and temperature-dependent).
• Hands-on mechanical assembly, fabrication, and test equipment calibration.
• SolidWorks CAD proficiency and familiarity with ASTM/ IEC standards.
