Marqeta is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join our Documentation team. You will create and maintain developer-focused documentation for our payments platform, including API references, tutorials, release notes, and onboarding guides. This role is based in Canada, with options in Toronto or Vancouver.

Responsibilities

Create, update, and maintain technical documentation for developers, product managers, and customer engineers.
Collaborate with product, engineering, and design teams to produce clear, accurate technical content.
Write API references, getting-started guides, tutorials, and sample code.
Edit and validate content for accuracy, consistency, and tone.
Ensure documentation quality across updates and releases.

Requirements

5+ years of technical writing experience in software or fintech domains.
Experience with API documentation formats (OpenAPI/Swagger) is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with engineers and product teams to understand complex systems.
Familiarity with content strategy and information architecture principles.

Nice-to-have

Experience with Markdown, AsciiDoc, or similar markup languages.
Knowledge of developer portals and docs tooling (e.g., ReadMe, Zendesk, GitHub).
