The Data Services Operations department at Mapbox is a crucial division responsible for acquiring, processing, and delivering high-quality location-oriented data to enable internal and external Customers who use Mapbox maps and Navigation.
The Data Services Operations Department at Mapbox provides a globally validated, up-to-date Mapbox Streets basemap; an engaging feedback experience for over 350K+ users and drivers; generates hundreds thousands of high quality corrections to offer the best map data to power navigation for people, packages, and vehicles globally.
Lead delivery of services operational projects ensuring timely and high-quality delivery;
Reporting directly to the Head of Data Services Operations, work with a passionate group of approximately 200+ Mapboxers;
Coordinate Data Services Operations cross-functional teams and align project goals and deliverables with Product and Engineering Managers and stakeholders. Facilitate meetings and integration across internal and external teams for seamless project execution;
Build and operationalize high-throughput, high-quality workflows across Data Services Operations projects — balancing speed, accuracy, and cost;
Define and own key performance indicators (KPIs), including throughput, cost per hour of data, and turnaround times;
Analyse operational teams pipelines and introduce AI solutions to optimize workflow and team productivity, reducing manual overhead;
Introduce AI driven tools for automated project status reporting, predictive risk analysis and resources allocation optimization, streamlining projects management workflows;
Provide strategic guidance, risk assessment and recommendations to subordinated teams, train and coach middle project managers to maximize output and manage risks effectively;
Solve operational bottlenecks and scale infrastructure to support rapid growth in customer demand, operate with urgency and clarity—driving execution while continuously improving workflows and systems.
5+ years of leadership: you have managed and grown diverse organizations of service operational teams;
Familiarity with GIS technologies or geospatial datasets is a strong advantage;
Experience with owning operational service KPI and tracking its operational health;
Data-driven mindset; Extensive and direct experience in using and managing data to deliver outsized impact;
People management experience, strong communication and presentation skills;
Relative comfort with ambiguity and the ability to maneuver effectively amid rapidly evolving priorities and workflows;
Fluency in Russian, English (B2+), Bachelor’s degree.
