Manager of Privacy Compliance

📋 Description

• Build, manage, and mature Upstart's privacy program per regulatory requirements.
• Partner with product, engineering, data science, security, and compliance to embed privacy-by-design in AI/data pipelines.
• Lead privacy risk and impact assessments (DPRAs/PIAs/DPIAs) for new products and ML models.
• Support privacy in model governance, explainability, fairness reviews, and data lifecycle.
• Maintain privacy documentation (records of processing, data flows) for audits.
• Collaborate with security/compliance on data safeguards, access controls, and vendor reviews.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in law, business, information systems, CS, or related field (or equivalent).
• 5+ years in privacy, compliance, risk, or data governance in fintech or regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of privacy regulations and privacy controls.
• Experience conducting DPRAs/PIAs/DPIAs and collaborating with engineering teams.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable engineering/data science specs.
• Preferred: privacy certifications (CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT) and experience with AI/ML governance.
