As the Global Senior Manager, Payroll & Benefits, you will own and evolve the global payroll and benefits strategy for a rapidly scaling, multinational SaaS company. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will lead end-to-end payroll operations across North America and international markets, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency while driving continuous process improvement and systems optimization.

You’ll act as a key strategic partner to Finance, People Operations, and Executive Leadership—helping MaintainX scale its global workforce with confidence, while fostering a best-in-class employee experience.

What You’ll Do:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead global payroll and benefits operations across the US, Canada, and international entities.

  • Build and mentor a high-performing team driving accuracy, compliance, and employee support.

  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Legal to design scalable, compliant payroll and benefits programs.

  • Optimize systems and vendors to improve automation, compliance, and employee experience.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing using ADP, TriNet, and related platforms.

  • Manage health, retirement, and global benefit programs, including renewals and vendor relationships.

  • Oversee payroll reporting, reconciliations,equity repo and audits, serving as the escalation point for complex issues.

Compliance & Governance

  • Maintain up-to-date expertise on payroll, tax, and labor regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Ensure full compliance with statutory reporting and audit requirements.

  • Strengthen internal controls, documentation, and audit readiness.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Drive process automation and system enhancements for accuracy and scalability.

  • Partner cross-functionally with People Operations and Finance on integrations and insights.

  • Lead the strategic transition from a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) to an in-house payroll and benefits model, ensuring seamless implementation of systems, compliance, and scalable processes.

  • Deliver strategic reporting on labor costs, benefits usage, and workforce trends.

About you:

  • 10+ years of experience in payroll and benefits, with at least 4+ years in a leadership or managerial capacity.

  • PCP designation required; PLP or CPP strongly preferred.

  • Proven experience managing payroll across multiple countries (US, Canada, and international).

  • Deep understanding of US and Canadian labor standards, tax regulations, and benefits administration.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage vendors, and build scalable systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build trust across teams and geographies.

  • Experience with payroll system implementations or upgrades (ADP, TriNet, or equivalent).

  • High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.

  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

  • Led a successful transition from a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) to an in-house payroll and benefits model an asset.
