Senior Systems Engineer - Gravity Networks

Lyra Technology Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Operating Company, Gravity Networks, headquartered in Knoxville, TN. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining diverse IT environments, providing tier 2 support, and serving as a first responder during outages and emergencies. In addition, this role will assist with architecting and deploying upgrades, onboarding new customers, and working closely with account management to ensure environments are up to date and aligned with best practices.

Senior System Engineer Responsibilities:

• Maintain and manage virtualized server environments

• Monitor and configure alerts on servers, VMs, storage, WANs, and backups.

• Configure and maintain UPS systems on critical infrastructure.

• Respond to alerts and outages: coordinate with service providers, communicate with clients, and resolve issues.

• Review and test disaster recovery and incident management scenarios, creating documentation as needed.

• Assist with VoIP installations, provide tier 2 VoIP support, and respond to emergencies onsite.

• Perform OS and firmware upgrades.

• Track work and manage tickets in the ticket management system.

• Create and update environment documentation.

• Support the onboarding of new customers and update environments to align with best practices.

• Partner with account and service management teams to ensure environments meet compliance and operational standards.

• Provide tier 2 escalation support to the help desk team when required.

Senior System Engineer Qualifications & Key Traits:

• Proven experience managing multiple IT environments of varying size and complexity

• Strong technical knowledge, including: Dell servers and storage hardware, Windows Server OS and Windows Workstation OS, Hyper-V / VMware vSphere, Azure, O365/M365, Fortinet networking, cloud-first and local backups, and network/security monitoring tools.

• Current Microsoft or NSE certifications preferred; ongoing training required.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with comfort interacting directly with clients, stakeholders, and team members both remotely and onsite.

• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management abilities, with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage complex tasks efficiently.

• Professional yet approachable demeanor, with a collaborative team-oriented mindset

• Comfortable learning and working across multiple systems and environments in a fast-paced MSP setting.

This role will operate out of the Knoxville, Tennessee office and will offer a base compensation of $90-110,000 per year.
