The accountant is responsible for key components that feed into the monthly and annual financial statements. They fulfil the various needs of the business and ensure day-to-day operations and inquiries flow smoothly.  

This role will ensure that general ledger accounts are reconciled and compliance requirements are fulfilled accurately and in a timely manner. This role works closely with the entire accounting team, focused on serving the different business streams, including Digital, Retail, Manufacturing, and Admin/Corporate across North America.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, your core RESPONSIBILITIES will include:

  • Prepare month-end and year-end entries, including accruals and adjustments
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations
  • Perform variance analysis and explain results to partners across the business
  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with policies and procedures
  • Liaise with other departments to analyze financial results and forecast future expenditures
  • Support various audits (ie, annual financial audit and specific State audits, etc.) by preparing supporting documents and coordinating with other departments across North America
  • Assist with vendor and intercompany invoicing and payment matching
  • Develop and maintain financial databases
  • Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
  • Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and solutions to business and financial challenges
  • Collaborate with other departments in North America to coordinate the flow of information to and from the finance department
  • Assist with Banking and Treasury administrative tasks
  • Assist with other department needs as it relates to finance

You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Accounting designation or in progress: CPA, CGA, CMA, CA, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in accounting, 2+ years in industry
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Strong work ethic
  • Proactive approach and initiative
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a time-pressured environment

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX
  • Experience working in a manufacturing and/or retail 
  • Experience working with online banking platforms
  • Working knowledge of foreign currency transactions

Job Type: Regular, Full Time 

Location: Vancouver, Hybrid - Ability to work from the office twice per week (Tuesdays & Wednesdays)

This salary range is based on an assessment of the local market and may vary depending on the successful candidate's location. This range is based on base salary and does not include additional bonus program and total rewards eligibility.

Base Salary Range

$65,000 - $72,000 CAD
