Director, Decision Science

We’re looking for a driven Director to join our Insurance team and spearhead the development and implementation of cutting-edge tools for our insurance products.

This role is critical for integrating our insurance tools in the age of AI across all facets of Lemonade—from distribution and underwriting to claims, compliance, and finance—while leveraging competitive data and data science to optimize our customers’ experiences and build the most innovative insurance on the market.

In this role you'll

• Lead tool integration for the broader insurance team at Lemonade while working closely with stakeholders

• Design and lead the team's strategy for utilizing tools that enable pricing and insurance product management

• Lead regulatory reporting for Lemonade, ensuring accuracy and compliance

• Lead the development and integration of predictive modeling projects while collaborating closely with the Data Science team

• Assist in the design and development of internal pricing software for advanced analytics to support real-time decision-making and scalable growth

• Build a comprehensive knowledge base of competitor rating strategies and the overall competitive landscape

• Identify opportunities for growth and learning for team members, fostering a high-performance environment

What you'll need

• 10+ years of P&C actuarial or pricing experience

• 8+ years leading and managing a team

• B.S. in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

• Proficient with predictive modeling concepts, including supervised and unsupervised machine learning approaches such as GLMs, decision trees, gradient boosting machines, random forests, and clustering

• Proficiency in database query tools such as SQL

• Proficiency in data science programming languages such as R or Python (preferred)

• Prior personal lines pricing experience is a definite plus

• Ability to work in a remote environment

• Enthusiasm about learning and adapting to the exciting world of AI – a commitment to exploring this field is a fundamental part of our culture

Lemonade's US base salary range for this full-time position is $200,000 - $232,500 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
