Lead Software Engineer, Ads (Remote)

📋 Description

• Lead a team building scalable ads services, APIs, and SDKs.
• Align delivery with roadmaps by partnering with other tech leads.
• Drive architecture and design for the ads platform.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to make ads offerings robust.
• Work with Data Scientists/ML Engineers to improve ads via data.
• Own engineering standards: code quality, reviews, processes.
• Conduct design and code reviews regularly.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks via delegation.
• Grow a 3-4 person team with regular 1:1s and feedback.
• Partner with leadership on hiring: define roles and leveling.
• Proactively identify gaps and propose improvements.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years software engineering in product teams.
• 2+ years in lead or people-management role.
• Ownership: navigates ambiguity and drives progress.
• AdTech systems experience (retail media, sponsored listings, or marketplace ads).
• Hands-on with ad serving and real-time decisioning, pacing, or attribution.
• Systems-level problem solver for distributed systems.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in Go or Java; quick to learn new languages.
• Database fluency: relational, columnar, and document DBs.
• Strong technical communication: code, docs, and cross-functional.
• Collaborative; mentoring and knowledge sharing.
• Experience provisioning/testing infrastructure with cloud ops: Terraform, CloudFormation.
