About Karat

Karat is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead engineering in India and shape the technology roadmap for Karat's platform. This is a remote role focused on India-based teams with Bangalore-based collaboration.

Role Overview

As the Director of Software Engineering you will lead multiple engineering teams, set technical strategy, and drive architecture, quality, and delivery for Karat's software platform. You will partner with product, design, and operations to deliver scalable, reliable systems that power Karat's hiring platform.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across software engineering teams in India and across remote sites
• Define and communicate technical vision, strategy, and roadmaps
• Architect scalable, reliable systems and drive best practices in coding, testing, deployment, and monitoring
• Mentor engineers, hire top talent, and grow the organization
• Partner with product and design to deliver impactful features on schedule

Requirements

• Proven track record leading software engineering teams at scale
• Strong background in software architecture, system design, and software engineering management
• Experience with modern tech stacks and cloud platforms (examples: Java, Python, AWS, Kubernetes)
• Excellent communication and cross functional collaboration
• Ability to recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent

Location and Focus

Remote role with concentrate on India based teams, notably Bangalore. You will collaborate with teams across time zones as needed.
