About JumpCloud

JumpCloud® delivers a unified open directory platform that makes it easy to securely manage identities, devices, and access across your organization. With JumpCloud, IT teams and MSPs enable users to work securely from anywhere and manage their Windows, Apple, Linux, and Android devices from a single platform. JumpCloud is IT Simplified.

About the Role:

As our Senior Cloud Data Analyst, you will be the bridge between our engineering and finance departments, ensuring we are getting the maximum value from every dollar spent in the cloud. You will be responsible for analyzing complex cloud consumption data, managing our commitment portfolio, and partnering directly with technical teams to drive a culture of cost accountability.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Cost Management & Analysis: Proactively monitor, analyze, and report on cloud spending across AWS and GCP, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for savings.
  • Optimization Strategy: Serve as the subject matter expert on cloud cost mechanics. You will own the strategy and execution of our commitment portfolio, including AWS Reserved Instances (RIs), Savings Plans (SPs), and managing Enterprise Agreements (EAs) or committed use discounts.
  • Forecasting & Budgeting: Partner with finance and engineering leads to develop and maintain our cloud consumption forecasts, annual budgets, and perform monthly variance analysis.
  • Business Partnership: Act as a key financial advisor to engineering and product teams. You will translate complex financial data into actionable insights, helping teams understand the cost impact of their architectural decisions.
  • Reporting & Dashboards: Develop and maintain FinOps dashboards and reports to provide stakeholders with visibility into cloud spend, unit economics (e.g., cost-per-customer), and optimization progress.
  • Governance: Help define and enforce cloud tagging and cost allocation policies to ensure accurate showback/chargeback and accountability.
  • We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a financial analysis role, with at least 2-3 years dedicated to cloud cost management or FinOps.
  • Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of cloud provider billing (especially AWS and GCP). You must have hands-on experience analyzing and managing commitment portfolios like RIs and SPs.
  • Financial Skills: Strong foundation in core finance, including financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Data-Driven: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to query and manipulate large datasets. Proficiency with cloud cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Google Cloud Billing) and BI tools (e.g., Tableau).
  • Communication: A "translator" who can clearly and concisely explain complex financial and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaboration: A proven ability to build strong relationships and influence cross-functional teams (Engineering, DevOps, Product, Finance) without direct authority.
  • Proactive Mindset: Not just reporting; you hunt for opportunities, ask "why," and drive initiatives from idea to completion.
  • Cherry on Top Qualifications:

  • Certifications: FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) or AWS/Google Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner).
  • Tooling: Experience with third-party cloud cost management platforms (e.g., CloudHealth, Apptio, Flexera).
  • Scripting: Basic scripting skills (Python, SQL) for data analysis and automation.
  • Container Costing: Experience with container cost allocation and optimization (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Additional Information
