Job Overview

Jensen Hughes is now seeking an experienced Project Manager - Fire Protection & Safety to join our team in Shanghai,

overseeing projects within China. This strategic role demands expertise in the fire protection industry, encompassing capabilities in design, technical review, and project management. The position requires familiarity with China’s GB codes, international codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, IFC, IBC), and FM standards. Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and communicate with local fire approval authorities, contractors, and clients to obtain all relevant approval documents required for fire and life safety projects, covering drawing reviews, installation, testing, and commissioning of fire and life safety systems, project schedule management, delivery and acceptance, as well as approval processes.
  • Understand and implement the requirements of project contracts into specific tasks, while focusing on business opportunities with existing clients in new business development and the execution of existing contracts.
  • Prepare technical calculations and complex technical reports related to fire and life safety (including fire safety strategy reports), and present findings to owners or management teams.
  • Strictly adhere to the project budget and schedule to advance work, promptly identify issues, and propose necessary corrective actions.

Qualifications

 

  • Master’s degree or higher in engineering (preferably in Electrical/Electromechanical/Fire and Life Safety/Safety or related fields); China Certified Fire Protection Engineer (Level 1) or U.S. Professional Engineer (PE) registration is a plus.
  • 6+ years of project experience, encompassing all aspects from the design phase through project handover to clients and obtaining approval from relevant authorities.
  • Experience in team management; proficient in engineering software and fire protection design tools, including AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in design review of fire protection systems, such as fire compartments, evacuation exits, sprinkler systems, risers, fire hydrants, gas suppression systems, smoke control and exhaust, fire alarm systems, evacuation PA systems, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies, and the capability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with robust analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Fluent English proficiency is preferred.
  • Experience or skills in ESS (Energy Storage System) battery fire safety or explosion analysis engineering is a plus.
