About the Role:

InvoiceCloud is scaling rapidly and building the next generation of our enterprise-grade SaaS platform. We are seeking aVice President of Engineering— a critical leadership role responsible for driving product feature delivery, advancing engineering excellence, and building a world-class team.

As the Vice President of Engineering, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of software development across the organization. You will oversee multiple engineering teams and managers to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative software solutions that delight our customers and accelerate business growth.

In this role, you will define and drive the long-term technical execution that enables product excellence and sustained innovation. Partnering closely with Engineering leadership, Product Management, and other key stakeholders, you will ensure that technology initiatives are deeply aligned with company objectives and market needs. You will foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement — empowering teams to deliver value rapidly while maintaining high standards of quality and architectural integrity.

This role reports to the SVP, Engineering, based in the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizational Leadership & Culture
    • Lead, mentor, and inspire engineers and engineering leaders.
    • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to multiple engineering teams, fostering a culture of trust, innovation, and accountability.
    • Build, attract, and retain top engineering talent through strong leadership, mentoring, and development programs.
    • Champion a culture of diversity, inclusion, and excellence where high performance and collaboration thrive.
    • Drive cross-functional alignment between engineering, product, and business functions to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Execution & Delivery Excellence
    • Own delivery outcomes across engineering, ensuring projects meet quality, budget, and timeline objectives.
    • Optimize organizational structure and processes to enhance productivity and time-to-market.
    • Establish measurable KPIs for reliability, velocity, and quality across teams.
    • Oversee governance and compliance for security, data protection, and software lifecycle management.
  • Strategic & Technical Vision
    • Collaborate with senior leadership and product teams to define the product, technical strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
    • Serve as a key member of the engineering leadership team, shaping organizational strategy and influencing business outcomes.
    • Balance innovation with operational excellence, fostering an environment where experimentation and reliability coexist
  • Technical & Process Excellence
    • Oversee the design and delivery of enterprise-grade systems emphasizing security, scalability, and high availability.
    • Advocate for modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, microservices, DevOps, and cloud-native architectures.
    • Partner with architecture leaders to ensure technology choices and standards align with long-term business strategy.
    • Drive continuous modernization of systems and platforms to maintain agility and competitiveness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Product Management, Operations, and Customer Support to align engineering efforts with business goals.
    • Communicate strategy, plans, and progress effectively to stakeholders, customers, and senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Experience
    • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 8 years in a leadership role managing development teams
    • Strong experience in building enterprise-grade multi-tenant SaaS applications
    • Experience driving organizational transformation, process modernization, and platform evolution at scale.
    • Proven track record in scaling and managing engineering organizations of 100–200 engineers.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Experience driving modernization, automation, and adoption of new technologies (e.g., AI, data, DevOps).
    • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred) and microservices architecture.
    • Experience in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
    • Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and incident management best practices.
    • Strong grasp of database technologies, API design, and distributed systems.
  • Leadership & Execution
    • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
    • Ability to drive system reliability improvements while fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Track record of influencing executive decisions through data-driven insights and technical acumen.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to articulate technical vision to executives, customers, and partners.
  • Culture & Communication
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate technical vision to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Experience managing distributed teams across multiple locations.
    • Willingness to travel occasionally to foster team cohesion and drive alignment.
