CONTRACT ROLE

Insomniac's UI/UX Department is looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer to help us build our next industry-inspiring player experience. In this role, you will partner with a world-class UI/UX team to help players navigate, locate information, and accomplish their goals, all while maximizing the end-user experience by prioritizing usability and accessibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Create AAA quality user interface designs for in game HUD and menu systems.

  • Work iteratively and independently through all phases of the game development cycle from prototype to polish.

  • Collaborate directly with artists, designers, developers, and researchers to create and design accessible user experiences that support the aesthetic, experiential, and technical vision for our games.

  • Provide accurate estimates for tasks, regularly update the team on in progress work, and ensure work remains is in scope.

  • Deliver wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and the in-game implementation of assets that are usable, accessible, and highly refined.

  • Proactively share, receive, incorporate, and act on feedback.

  • Effectively communicate with leadership and project management to manage reasonable workload and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

  • Help evolve our studio’s standards of excellence for UI/UX design.

  • Advocate for our players and the end-to-end user experience.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Five or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficiency with screen design and rapid prototyping tools (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma or equivalent).

  • Detailed understanding of digital interaction design fundamentals and patterns.

  • Strong game design sensibilities and commitment to creating innovative player experiences.

  • Passion for game accessibility and player advocacy.

Bonus Experience:

  • Experience working on UI/UX systems in AAA games.

  • Experience with the Adobe suite (Photoshop, Animate, and Illustrator).

  • Familiarity with game engines and implementation workflows.

  • Familiarity with web technologies (e.g. HTML, CSS, JS).

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below, this is an hourly rate.

$65 - $85 USD
