Your Impact:

As the Sr. Information Designer at Illumio, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of the Content team. We’re a small but mighty team of five content developers whose mission is to deliver the right content to the right audience at the right time. We’re risk takers, eager to embrace innovation so that we can deliver purposeful visual content journeys that will keep our customers coming back for more.

Leveraging your experience with generative AI, you will help lead the information design journey for the team and build an asset library of information graphics. As an expert in content strategy and information design, you will influence the team's content transformation agenda.

Demonstrate thought leadership through storytelling using information graphics and videos.

Information Design

Unleash your creative skills and leverage your design expertise to build and deliver infographics that gleam.

In this position, you'll develop content to communicate information to a highly technical cybersecurity audience. You should understand your audience needs and determine best practices based on how different audience types respond to different types of information.

As part of your information design plan, conduct quarterly design audits to identify and address content gaps.

You'll use design elements like color, imagery, shape, space, texture, and type to create infographics for different audience types, depicting their journey from onboarding, to adoption, to self-service, and troubleshooting.

Examples of infographics you will create include (but are not limited to):

  • Onboarding journey paths

  • Learning maps

  • Flowcharts

  • How-to processes

  • Visual workflows

  • Timelines

  • And more

· Onboard new Illumio customers using visually appealing onboarding journey paths so that they can adopt new products and features quickly without reading reams of text.

· Build visual learning maps for each existing and new Illumio products that are easy to follow without overloading users with too much information.

· Keep your message on point by building niche infographics that will convey a process, workflow, or sequence of steps in an easy to consume form.

· Use the “less is more” approach and design infographics that's easy to read. Build graphics so that your user can absorb information quickly.

· Hit the ground running by bringing your design expertise to the team.

· Recommend and implement design strategies to reduce verbosity in documentation.

Customer Focus

· Be laser focused on customer requests, building visual content journeys based on their needs.

Mentorship

· Mentor writers on the team and lead multi-media design workshops to grow and expand the skills of the team.

Collaboration

· Partner and align closely with UX, Engineering, and Product teams to ensure a cohesive approach to building information graphics that tell a compelling story.

· Influence the product design cycle by embedding yourself in Figma reviews during the prototype phase and recommend intuitive customer journeys.

Your Toolkit:

  • 10+ years of experience in information design and content strategy (for example, in-product app guidance, info graphics), or experience in a writing or editing role in an enterprise software or security company with a strong focus on design.

  • Excellent design skills to create polished and professional designs that pop.

  • Use AI effectively to build information graphics quickly and effectively.

  • Bachelor's degree in information design, content publishing/management, technical writing, communications or equivalent experience.

  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and project management skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing, agile environment.

  • An expert at context shifting, able to juggle multiple projects at one time.

  • Proficient in authoring and maintaining content in content management systems such as Paligo, Heretto, or another CMS.

  • Advanced user of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or other graphics tools.

  • Advanced user of Camtasia or other video editing tools.

  • Proficient using Atlassian (Confluence, JIRA).

  • Familiar building content in an agile environment.
