Senior Data Center Engineer

Overview

IEX Group is seeking a Senior Data Center Engineer to design, deploy, and operate mission-critical data center infrastructure in our New York facility. This role focuses on reliability, efficiency, and security of power, cooling, servers, and networking equipment, with a strong emphasis on uptime and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, deployment, and ongoing operation of data center infrastructure (power distribution, cooling systems, racks, cabling, and environmental monitoring)
• Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking gear, and related hardware
• Monitor data center systems, respond to incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement durable fixes
• Manage capacity planning, asset inventory, change control, and documentation
• Collaborate with facilities, IT, and security teams to ensure physical and information security
• Develop, maintain, and improve runbooks, standard operating procedures, and disaster recovery plans
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in on-call rotations as needed

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data center engineering, operations, or equivalent experience
• Hands-on experience with data center infrastructure (power systems, cooling, racks, cabling)
• Solid networking knowledge (e.g., Cisco/Juniper) and basic routing/switching concepts
• Experience with server hardware and virtualization (e.g., VMware)
• Scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, or similar)
• Familiarity with DCIM and monitoring tools
• Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (preferred)
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
