Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned (Senior) Engineering Manager - Edge to lead our edge computing initiatives within HiveMQ's MQTT platform. You will manage and grow a high-performing software engineering team, drive delivery of scalable edge solutions, and collaborate with product, design, and operations to shape technical strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow cross-functional engineering teams focused on edge computing and MQTT-edge integrations.
• Set technical direction, own architectural decisions, and ensure high performance, reliability, and security.
• Partner with product and stakeholders to plan roadmaps, define milestones, and deliver on commitments.
• Foster a culture of quality, code quality, automated testing, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with platform and security teams to maintain governance and compliance across edge deployments.

Requirements

• Proven leadership experience in software engineering, ideally in edge or distributed systems.
• Strong background in cloud-native architectures and scalable systems.
• Hands-on engineering experience with relevant languages and ecosystems (e.g., Java/Kotlin) and MQTT/messaging knowledge.
• Excellent communication and people-management skills with a track record of delivering complex projects.

Nice to have

• Experience in edge device ecosystems, IoT, or telco environments.
• Familiarity with security best practices for edge deployments.
