As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in building, maintaining, and scaling Forto’s modern cloud-based data infrastructure. You’ll support and empower stakeholders across the company as we advance toward globally scaled, highly automated, and data-driven operations.
Our current data stack includes:
BigQuery for data warehousing
Google Cloud Pub/Sub for ingestion
dbt for data transformation
Apache Airflow (on Composer) for orchestration
Python for scripting
Monte Carlo and Datadog for observability
Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data systems to support Forto’s innovation in the logistics space
Collaborate in cross-functional teams — including Software Engineering, Analytics, and Product — to deliver impactful Data Products
Drive the adoption of robust, high-throughput data processing architectures
Partner with stakeholders to foster a strong data-driven culture
Manage and optimize GCP infrastructure, including CI/CD workflows, Terraform, and container orchestration
Contribute to the evolution of our DevOps and data engineering best practices
Expert-level proficiency in Python, with strong familiarity with data processing libraries, testing strategies, and best practices
Strong SQL skills, especially with BigQuery, and experience across modern data platforms
Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale pipelines using Apache Airflow, Docker, and Kubernetes
Practical interest in AI/LLM engineering, such as RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, or LLMOps
A growth mindset and a desire to continuously learn and evolve with the data engineering space
Experience in cross-functional environments, and comfort participating in architectural discussions, stakeholder sessions, and collaborative working models (pair/mob sessions)
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Willingness to work in a hybrid setup with 2+ days/week in our office
