- Diode technology development: Design and evaluate high-power laser diode emitters, bars, and stacks.
- Testing & characterization: Electro-optical, thermal, and reliability tests (P-I-V, spectral, beam quality).
- Automated test infrastructure: Design, commission, and operate automated test benches for high-volume characterization.
- Reliability & lifetime modeling: Lead ALT/HALT tests and build predictive lifetime models.
- Supplier & partner collaboration: Work with partners, suppliers, labs to improve diode performance and manufacturability.
- System integration: Collaborate with DPSSL system teams to integrate diodes into laser modules.
🎯 Requirements
- PhD (or equivalent) in optical, electrical, mechanical engineering, physics, or related field with diode laser experience.
- Proven experience designing, building, and operating laser diode test setups (optical, thermal, electrical).
- Strong understanding of thermal management and reliability for high-power semiconductor devices.
- Comfortable with large datasets, applying statistical and modeling tools to guide decisions.
- Able to work across internal teams and external partners in multi-stakeholder environments.
- Preferred: DPSSL or high-average-power laser systems experience; related fields ok.
