Engineering Operations Manager
The Engineering Operations Manager plays a critical role in enabling efficient software development and operations within the Product Engineering and Technical Program Management teams. This position focuses on managing and optimizing the tools, processes, and workflows that support product development, deployment, and ongoing operations.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about continuous improvement. They are comfortable learning new technologies, training others, and driving adoption of best practices across diverse teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Application Management & CustomizationAdminister and customize core engineering tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Jellyfish, as well as future platforms, to deliver robust metrics, analytics, and executive reporting.
- Process StandardizationDefine and enforce consistent usage patterns for engineering tools across roles and teams to improve collaboration and efficiency.
- Business & Technical AlignmentApply strong business, domain, and technical acumen to align tools and processes with Five9’s objectives, product lifecycle, cloud operations, and release management practices.
- Continuous Improvement & AutomationIdentify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and optimize value streams for maximum impact.
- Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with engineering, product management, and other stakeholders to enhance the developer experience and improve team productivity.
- AI IntegrationLeverage AI capabilities within engineering tools and enterprise systems to improve content accessibility, enable self-service, and drive innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in engineering operations, tooling, or process management.
- Strong ability to collaborate across multiple roles and teams to deliver solutions that meet diverse needs.
- Excellent communication skills—able to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Self-starter with flexibility, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Preferred Skills
- Experience administering Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Familiarity with MySQL, Python, and BI tools for reporting and automation.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and software development life cycle processes.
