Fastly is seeking a Customer Solutions Engineer to join our team and help customers deploy and optimize Fastly’s edge cloud solutions. This role is remote with a preferred base on the East Coast (NYC area), but candidates on the East Coast or remotely within the region are welcome.

Role Overview

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Fastly customers, understand their business goals and technical challenges, and translate them into effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Support to design, implement, and optimize Fastly services for customers’ applications.
  • Assist with onboarding, migration, performance tuning, incident response, and day-to-day usage of our platform.
  • Develop/runbooks, best practices, and technical resources to enable customers to scale and succeed with Fastly.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on security, reliability, and performance of customer workloads on the Fastly platform.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide technical guidance to customers during deployment and integration of Fastly services (CDN, Edge Compute, API integrations).
  • Troubleshoot performance or reliability issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and coordinate with internal teams to implement lasting fixes.
  • Deliver hands-on support during onboarding, migrations, and production launches.
  • Capture customer requirements, propose architecture improvements, and contribute to reference architectures and runbooks.
  • Represent Fastly to customers with professionalism and a strong focus on customer success and retention.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years in customer-facing technical roles (solutions engineering, field engineering, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of web applications, networking, caching, CDN concepts, HTTP/2/3, TLS, and edge computing.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and API integrations.
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Bash) and the ability to translate technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
