Graduate Software Development Engineer at ESO
Overview
ESO is seeking a Graduate Software Development Engineer to join our Prague team. You will help design, implement, test, and maintain software supporting astronomical research and observatory operations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with software engineers and scientists to develop features and fix defects for scientific software
- Write clean, maintainable code in Python and/or C++
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation
- Assist with deployment and maintenance of software tools used by astronomers
- Contribute to agile development processes and team meetings
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Solid knowledge of at least one programming language (Python, C++, or similar)
- Understanding of software development fundamentals, version control (Git), and testing
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Good communication skills and willingness to learn
