About the Role

We are looking for someone to manage our pre-sales Solutions Engineering team, managing both US and UK teams and holding the structure, organization, and strategic execution required to ensure customer happiness while advancing product development and security. The Solutions Engineering team is multifaceted at Envoy and includes elements of sales engineering, API development, support escalations, and world-class enterprise customer support. This function is measured from a revenue perspective in addition to feedback from internal cross-functional teams and customers. You will be responsible for prioritizing work across the team while supporting each team member's professional development as they grow their technical and customer-facing skill sets. While the team remains small, your workload will be split between IC and management responsibilities.

This hybrid position requires at least 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday) in our New York City office. This is not an entry-level position. We are seeking candidates with prior experience as listed in the details below.

You will

  • Build a world-class team: Recruit, coach, and develop Solutions Engineers while fostering a culture of continuous growth and collaboration.

  • Drive customer impact: Ensure prospects and customers have an exceptional technical sales experience, while embedding SEs in strategic deals and cross-functional initiatives.

  • Translate customer needs into product value: Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to identify trends, escalate feedback, and shape Envoy’s roadmap with real-world insights.

  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering from a management perspective to help translate customer needs into a better overall product; recognize trends in customer feedback, and escalate issues within Envoy.

  • Improve deal outcomes: Actively monitor pipeline health, support deal strategy, and use data-driven insights to proactively address at-risk opportunities.

  • Keep Envoy ahead of the competition: Leverage team expertise to position Envoy as the clear choice in the market and close high-impact, strategic accounts.

You have

  • A track record of high performance and innovation in pre-sales or technical solutions roles.

  • Hands-on experience mentoring and leveling up individual SEs or technical teammates.

  • An intellectually curious mindset with a passion for learning new technologies, sales methodologies, and customer engagement best practices.

  • A data-driven approach to decision-making, ensuring your team focuses on the most impactful opportunities and projects.

  • A strong customer-first orientation, with experience advocating for customer needs across cross-functional teams.

  • 1+ years of people management or team leadership experience or extensive mentoring experience.

  • 5+ years of technical solution design experience solving complex customer problems.

  • 4+ years of customer-facing experience in pre-sales, solutions engineering, or related roles.

  • Ruby on Rails intermediary understanding.

  • Experience working for a SaaS startup.

  • Experience with support tools and platforms like Intercom, SQL visualization tools, and common SaaS tools like Salesforce, Vitally, etc.

  • Understanding Net Promoter Score (NPS), Customer Satisfaction (CSAT), and standard drivers.

  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL with the ability to query data for reporting and/or troubleshooting purposes.

  • Firsthand experience working in an environment where mobile or cloud-based applications are developed and demoed.

  • Advanced knowledge of web development technology.
