We are a data-driven organization committed to leveraging analytics to drive financial and business decisions. Our team values collaboration, accuracy, and efficiency in data management and analysis. We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee our accounting operations with a primary focus on accounts payable, financial audit preparation, and maintaining strong relationships with external auditors. This role will lead a small team of two, striking a balance between leadership and significant day-to-day involvement in accounting processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about both operational excellence and developing team members.
This is an on-site position that requires 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday) in our San Francisco HQ.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Oversee the preparation of financial statements.
Ensure compliance with ASC 842 (Leases), ASC 340-40 (Contract Costs), and other relevant standards.
Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and assess the impact on financial reporting.
Coordinate with tax team on several tax-related matters, including sales tax.
Assist in complex revenue recognition under ASC 606, including contract modifications, variable consideration, and performance obligation allocation for multi-element SaaS arrangements.
Audit & External Reporting Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during annual audits.
Prepare comprehensive audit support documentation and respond to requests from auditors.
Lead audit preparation activities, including flux analysis, rollforward schedules, and supporting documentation.
Collaborate with auditors on technical accounting positions and documentation requirements.
Operational Oversight
Supervise accounts payable processes to ensure accurate and timely vendor payments and reconciliations.
Oversee commission calculations and sales compensation accounting.
Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and support a team of senior accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and growth.
Provide training, guidance, and constructive feedback to enhance individual capabilities and career progression.
Balance hands-on involvement with strategic leadership to ensure both operational execution and professional development.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Expert-level knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 340-40, ASC 842, and ASC 718 (stock compensation)
Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, internal controls, and audit preparation.
Hands-on, detail-driven approach with the ability to manage both individual responsibilities and team leadership.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Airbase, and Avalara preferred
Critical thinking skills and the capability to translate concepts into next steps and ideas.
High energy level with a hands-on approach, combined with the ability to provide leadership and structure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
