Mainframe Systems Programmer - CICS

Overview

Ensono is seeking a Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer with deep expertise in CICS to join our remote team. In this role you will maintain and optimize IBM z/OS mainframe environments, ensure high availability and performance, oversee incident resolution, capacity planning, and participate in change management. You will collaborate with application teams to support critical business systems, implement upgrades, and ensure security, disaster recovery readiness, and compliance. Ideal candidates have experience with CICS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, MQ, and mainframe tooling, plus strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize IBM z/OS mainframe environments and CICS regions
• Troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes
• Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and capacity management
• Participate in change control, upgrades, and disaster recovery planning
• Collaborate with development teams and clients to support mission-critical systems
• Ensure security best practices and compliance requirements are met

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with IBM mainframe systems and CICS
• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and MQ
• Experience with z/OS, VSAM, ISMF, and mainframe tooling
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
