The Role

We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Security Engineer to design, implement, and manage security controls for mainframe environments (primarily z/OS). In this remote role, you will work with RACF, ACF2, and Top Secret to protect critical systems, monitor security events, manage identities and access, and contribute to incident response and remediation efforts. You will collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure secure and compliant systems and participate in risk assessments and security improvements.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain mainframe security controls using RACF/ACF2/Top Secret on z/OS
• Monitor security events and perform ongoing risk assessments
• Administer identity and access management for mainframe environments
• Lead incident response and remediation activities for security events
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement secure coding and deployment practices
• Automate security processes and tooling using scripting (e.g., Python)
• Stay current with mainframe security trends and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mainframe security
• Hands-on expertise with z/OS, RACF, ACF2, and Top Secret
• Strong knowledge of mainframe security concepts and best practices
• Experience with security monitoring, access management, and incident response
• Nice-to-have certifications such as CISSP or CISM
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
• Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python) for automation
