Job Overview

Ensono is seeking an Expert Mainframe Systems Programmer to join our team in Chennai, India. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise mainframe platforms (z/OS).

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and optimize z/OS subsystems and related platforms.
Develop and maintain JCL, COBOL, and PL/I applications; support CICS and IMS transactions; manage DB2 databases.
Monitor system performance, perform capacity planning, and implement tuning strategies.
Manage batch processing, job scheduling, and automation; write and maintain system automation scripts (Rexx, Python).
Participate in incident response, problem management, disaster recovery, and security hardening (RACF/ACF).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across IT and client environments; adhere to ITIL/ITSM processes and change control.
Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to junior staff; contribute to ongoing modernization initiatives.

Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with z/OS, CICS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS, and MQ.
Solid knowledge of mainframe tooling, subsystems, and performance tuning techniques.
Familiarity with IBM tooling (TSO, SDSF, SMP/E) and system automation scripting (Rexx, Python, REXX).
Experience with disaster recovery, backup/recovery, and security (RACF/ACF).
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
