Senior Corporate Counsel, US Public Sector

Overview

Elastic is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to support our US Public Sector endeavors. In this role, you will provide strategic legal guidance on government contracting, procurement, data privacy, compliance, and related regulatory matters for public sector customers and partnerships. You will collaborate closely with product, sales, security, and government affairs teams to enable responsible, scaled growth in the public sector.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiations and drafting of government contracts, task orders, BPAs/SOWs, and related procurement documents to support public sector sales.
• Advise on government procurement rules (FAR/DFARS), regulatory compliance, export controls, data privacy, cybersecurity, and risk management for public sector engagements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable contract processes, templates, and playbooks that reduce cycle times while maintaining legal risk controls.
• Manage relationships with external counsel and government clients; coordinate internal approvals and escalation paths.
• Monitor changes to government contracting requirements and translate implications into practical guidance for business teams.
• Support M&A or partnerships involving public sector entities as needed.
• Provide training and guidance on contracting practices and regulatory considerations to internal teams.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; active bar admission in DC or another US jurisdiction.
• 6+ years of relevant experience in corporate/commercial law with emphasis on government contracts and public sector work; in-house experience a plus.
• Strong knowledge of US government procurement processes (FAR/DFARS), licensing, data sharing, and related regulatory regimes.
• Experience negotiating complex technology licensing agreements, data rights, and related commercial arrangements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment with sound judgment and integrity.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate business acumen, and deliver practical legal solutions.
