Ebury is a fintech focused on cross-border payments and international money movement. We are seeking a highly capable Compliance Officer & MLRO to lead our AML/CTF program in Toronto and ensure regulatory compliance across our operations.

Role overview

The Compliance Officer & MLRO will own the firm’s AML/CTF program, oversee transaction monitoring, conduct risk assessments, and act as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer where required. You will collaborate with product, operations, risk, and legal teams to implement robust controls and maintain a culture of compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the AML/CTF program.
• Monitor and investigate suspicious activities; file regulatory reports as required.
• Oversee Know Your Customer (KYC) processes and risk-based customer due diligence.
• Develop governance processes, policies, and training for staff across the organization.
• Engage with regulators and external partners as needed; support internal audits and exams.
• Act as primary MLRO for the entity where applicable.

Requirements

• Significant experience in regulatory compliance within fintech or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of AML/CTF, KYC, risk assessment, and control design.
• Ability to interpret and apply local and international regulations; excellent communication skills.
• Proven track record in building and leading compliance programs; experience in Canada is a plus.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CFE) are a plus.
