General Manager, Lending

Overview

Earnest is seeking a General Manager, Lending to lead and grow the company's lending business from San Francisco in a hybrid environment. The role will own strategy, underwriting policy, risk management, operations, and people leadership, partnering with product and technology to scale Earnest's lending platform while maintaining responsible lending practices.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the lending strategy to drive growth and profitability.
• Lead underwriting, risk management, policy development, and portfolio performance.
• Build and manage high-performing teams across underwriting, operations, analytics, and customer experience.
• Partner with product and technology to scale the platform and improve customer outcomes.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and deliver an exceptional borrower experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in consumer lending or financial services.
• Proven senior leadership with P&L ownership and team building.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
• Experience scaling lending businesses and establishing robust risk controls.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance.
