Financial Controller

Overview

Durable is seeking a Senior Financial Controller to lead the finance function for a remote-friendly, Canada-based team. This role is responsible for accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making. You will own the month-end close, coordinate external audits, manage tax compliance, and drive process improvements across the finance organization. This is a remote position with strong collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end accounting and month-end close in accordance with GAAP;
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports for leadership and board;
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning;
• Maintain internal controls and support annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting;
• Oversee payroll, benefits, and intercompany reconciliations;
• Optimize ERP systems and financial processes;
• Collaborate with FP&A, operations, and senior leadership;
• Drive process improvements and automation;
• Ensure accuracy of financial data and timely close.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA/CMA or equivalent preferred;
• 5+ years of experience in finance leadership roles;
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS;
• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills;
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilities;
• Comfortable working in a remote environment and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
