Role
Duolingo is seeking a strategic, senior leader to own Talent Management and Rewards. As Head of Talent Management & Rewards, you will design and lead our global talent strategy, oversee compensation and rewards, and partner with the executive team to ensure we attract, develop, and retain exceptional talent as we scale.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive talent management strategy aligned with Duolingo’s business goals.
- Design and govern global compensation, equity and benefits programs; lead a market-informed rewards framework.
- Build and oversee leadership development, succession planning, performance management, and talent lifecycle programs.
- Lead a cross-functional People team; partner with Finance, Legal, and business leaders to forecast talent needs and budget.
- Scale talent programs for rapid growth, maintain competitive total rewards, and manage mobility and relocation programs as needed.
- Use people analytics to inform strategy, track KPIs, and report to the executive team.
- Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture aligned with Duolingo’s mission and values.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in talent management, total rewards, or HR leadership, ideally in high-growth tech or education tech environments.
- Proven ability to design and implement global compensation and rewards programs, including equity, bonuses, salary structures, and benefits.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management; experience guiding senior executives and partnering with Finance, Legal, and People teams.
- Data-driven and analytically minded with expertise in people analytics and HR metrics.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and change-management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree or SHRM/WorldatWork certification preferred.

- Experience building compensation and rewards for a multinational, multi-product organization.

Location and work model
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. This is an on-site role based in our Pittsburgh office.
