About Duolingo
Duolingo is seeking a Director of Social Media to lead the global social media strategy, content, and performance. Based in Pittsburgh, PA (or flexible remote), you will shape the brand voice, oversee the social content calendar, manage a team, and partner with Marketing, Growth, Product, and Communications to drive engagement and growth across all social channels. You will own measurement, reporting, and optimization of paid and organic social programs.
Role Overview
The Director of Social Media will set the vision for Duolingo's social presence, drive cross-channel campaigns, and lead a high-impact team responsible for content creation, community management, and analytics-driven optimization. This is a strategic leadership role aimed at accelerating brand awareness and user growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across platforms (TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, YouTube) to grow brand awareness and engagement.
- Lead a team of social media managers and creators; manage editorial calendar and content production.
- Oversee paid social programs, budgets, and experimentation; optimize return on ad spend.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Growth, Product, and Communications to align campaigns and product launches.
- Define KPIs, measure performance with analytics tools, generate insights, and report to senior leadership.
- Partner with brand partnerships and influencer teams to build authentic collaborations.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in social media or brand marketing; 5+ years leading teams.
- Deep experience with multi-channel social platforms and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Sprout Social, Hootsuite).
- Proven track record of scaling social programs and driving measurable impact.
- Excellent storytelling, written and verbal communication, and project management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field; MBA a plus.
