Role overview

Dropbox is seeking a VP, Head of Security to lead our security program across products, infrastructure, and data. In this remote leadership role, you will build and execute the security strategy for the company, partner with engineering, privacy, and legal teams, and report to executive leadership. This position focuses on safeguarding user data and company assets across Dropbox services with a Remote - US orientation (North America).

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive an enterprise security program including cloud security, identity and access management, encryption, threat modeling, incident response, and disaster recovery.
  • Lead, grow, and mentor the security organization; recruit top talent and scale the team to support Dropbox's growth.
  • Establish security governance, risk management, and metrics; provide regular security updates to executives and cross-functional partners.
  • Ensure secure product development lifecycle and security-by-design across platforms and services.
  • Lead incident response, forensics, containment, remediation, and post-incident analysis; oversee exercises and drills.
  • Manage third-party risk, vendor security assessments, and data handling practices.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and data privacy across regions (with emphasis on GDPR) and industry standards.
  • Promote a culture of security awareness and provide security training to staff.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of security leadership experience in large-scale organizations with a track record of building and scaling security programs.
  • Deep expertise in cloud security (AWS/Azure/GCP), identity and access management, encryption, and zero trust architectures.
  • Strong incident response, threat modeling, risk management, and governance capabilities.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and collaboration skills; able to partner with product, engineering, privacy, legal, and executive teams.
  • Bachelors degree in computer science, information security, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
